What is it?

Homoeopathy is the science and art of treatment and prevention of disease as developed by Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843).

Homoeopathy is based on the Law of Similars. This means that if a substance can create a specific symptom to a healthy person, it can also cure the same symptom in someone suffering from it. An  example is the common onion,  when we peel it gives us runny nose and eyes. In homoeopathy onion (Allium Cepa)  is one of the main remedies to treat the common cold or hay fever, where the main symptoms are runny nose and eyes!

Homoeopathy is one of the safest forms of medicine. The substances used are in an extremely diluted form, since they are used for their energetic properties  and not the chemical ones.

The task of a homoeopath is to understand you and your disease as much as possible, inorder  to find the right  homoeopathic remedy and give it to you in the right amount. The correct homoeopathic remedy stimulates your organism to heal itself.

What can homoeopathy treat?

Homoeopathy can treat  physical as well as mental and emotional problems. People come to homoeopathy for both acute and chronic ailments. These include  headaches, insomnia, asthma, eczema, vertiligo, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, sinus issues, menstrual problems, arthritis, depression, anxiety, lack of concentration and many other complex health problems. Adults, elderly, children  and infants, can all be benefited by this system.

Homeopathy is now the most widely used and trusted alternative system of medicine in the UK. Increasingly being accepted into mainstream medicine, it remains the only alternative medicine incorporated into the NHS. This was achieved by act of parliament in 1952 due to the phenomenal success and reputation homeopathy gained in treating epidemic diseases. The results were so impressive that the Act was passed with the subsequent establishment of 5 NHS Homeopathic hospitals. This Act secures, by law, the provision of homeopathy within the NHS – Andrew Ward, Dip. IACH. R.S.Hom, Registered Classical Homeopath

How quick is it?

There is no standard answer to this question. Some diseases

disappear within minutes after taking the correct remedy and some diseases might need  many years of treatment! The factors that determine the duration of the treatment are things like the state of the overall health of the patient, the severity of the disease, the use of conventional medication, the family history of the patient etc. At the end of the initial consultation I will be able  give you an idea about the duration of your treatment.

Am I going to become worse before I get better?

In some cases  a transient aggravation of the symptoms takes place. Usually it lasts only a few days. This is an encouraging reaction, as it means that the organism has enough energy to heal itself! I  will inform you beforehand for this possible reaction, as it varies from person to person.

What happens during the consultation?

During the initial consultation (2 hours) I will ask for detailed information of your main complaints. I will also ask  general questions about yourself, these will include information about your body temperature, energy levels, dietary habits, personality etc. Finally, with your permission, I  will perform physical examination that includes visual inspection of your tongue, pulse taking, abdominal examination etc.  The information I collect will help me to find the remedy that can simulate your organism to find its lost balance.  All follow up sessions will last 1 hour.

Appointment booking & Fees

To book an appointment please visit the contact page and select the nearest clinic to you.  Session fees are different depending on the clinic you choose.  Ask reception for the cost of a first and follow-on consultation fee.   The first session fee is higher due to the extra time required to establish & record your health situation.  When booking the appointment please ask for George Askounis as there maybe other homoeopaths at the same clinic.

“The introduction of Homeopathy forced the old school doctor to stir around and learn something of a rational nature about his business. You may honestly feel grateful that homeopathy survived the attempts of the orthodox Physicians to destroy it.” – Mark Twain
