George Askounis

I was born in Greece and  came to London more than 20 years ago to study the cello and obtain a diploma at the Trinity College of Music. I  then decided to study alternative medicine so that I could first improve my own health and also fulfill a desire I had since childhood, to help other people.

My first studies were in Chinese Massage at the London School of Chinese Massage and Acupressure and privately with Dr. Lee and Rosie Grandage.

I continued by studying acupuncture  at the London College of  Traditional Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. After my graduation I attented workshops with Stephen Birch and decided to specialise in the Japanese style of acupuncture. For one year I studied the pulse taking under the guidance of Michiko Yamakuchi.George Askounis Homoeopath, Acupuncturist, and certified practitioner of the Buteyko Method for Asthma, Tui Na massage therapy, and Kanpo

I  attended the  Apprentice Course on Japanese Herbal Medicine (Kampo) taught by Gretchen De Soriano. This was a milestone in my understanding of Oriental Medicine and Medicine in general.  I organised and taught a one year introductory course to Kanpo, to prepare students for the main course. I also led tutorials and clinical training for graduates of the main course.

Following the big success in the treatment of my wife’s asthma I became a teacher of the Buteyko Breathing Method.

Finally I studied homeopathy ar the International Academy of Classical Homeopathy with George Vithoukas. I continue my studies in Homeopathy with Andre Saine.

My main interests is the treatment of chronic disease where I could use  my many  skills as needed.

I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council and of the Alliance of Registered Homeopaths.

Sitting-meditation, Internal martial arts, Qigong and the Alexander Technique  are important parts of my life for the last 20 years, as well as listening to  and playing music. I live in London with my wife and our two lovely daughters.
